Competition/Event Rules Highlights :

Thirukkural competition

  1. Contestants will NOT be allowed to refer any material during the competition.
  2. Participants are expected to satisfy the minimum number of kural mentioned below and can recite till maximum number mentioned.
  3. Participants are expected to learn the meaning of kural and recite it along with the kural. The guidelines of reciting the meaning is mentioned below
  4. Parent’s presence will be restricted during the competition.
  5. All participants will receive a certificate.
  6. Date of the competition will be communicated to the email address in the registration form.
  7. Winners will be announced during the Pattasu 2018 event.

Athichudi/Konrai Vendan competition

  1. The Contestant will NOT be allowed to refer any material during the competition.
  2. Participants are expected to satisfy the minimum number of athichudi mentioned below and can recite till maximum number mentioned.
  3. Participants are expected to learn the meaning of athichudi and recite it along with the athichudi. The guidelines of reciting the meaning is mentioned below
  4. Parent’s presence will be restricted during the competition.
  5. All participants will receive a certificate.
  6. Date of the competition will be communicated to the email address in the registration form.
  7. Winners will be announced during the Pattasu 2018 event.

Drawing competition

  1. Art Entry must be an original effort of the student participant
  2. Participant should submit the art entry as an email attachment. Please go through instructions mentioned below email format
  3. Art entry must be labeled with participant name, grade (bottom right), Drawing theme,member ID(if member).
  4. It is ok for participants to get help from parents in terms of idea, but the actual drawing should be entirely completed by kids
  5. All participants will receive a certificate.
  6. Last date for submission of Artwork will be communicated to the email address in the registration form.
  7. Winners will be announced during the Pattasu 2018 event

Fancy Dress competition

  1. One parent can accompany the participating students.
  2. Introduction is a must and the lines must be short and should provide accurate information. Please refer Judging Criteria.
  3. This competition will be conducted on stage of Pattasu 2018 event.

Tamil Handwriting competition

  1. Print out of Tamil passage(s) will be given to participants and they will write it in the paper provided.
  2. Content of the passage(s) will differ for each age group.
  3. Paper will be provided; all other writing tools need to be brought by the contestant.
  4. Duration of the competition is 45 mins.
  5. Parents will not be allowed inside the room where the competitions are held.
  6. Contestants will be not allowed to refer any material during the competition.
  7. Winners will be announced during the Pattasu 2018 event.

Essay Writing competition

  1. The contestant will be not allowed to refer any material during the competition.
  2. Paper will be provided; all other writing tools need to be brought by the contestant.
  3. Duration of the competition is 45 minutes.
  4. Parents will not be allowed inside the room where the competitions are held.
  5. Winners will be announced during the Pattasu 2018 event

Photography competition

  1. Photographs must be recent and in digital format. Preference will be given to photos taken within the past 3 months before the date of entry.
  2. No image manipulation permitted outside of cropping and simple color correction. Must be 5 megabytes or smaller, in jpeg format.
  3. The photograph, in its entirety, must be a single work of original material taken by the Contest entrant.
  4. If the photograph contains any material or elements that are not owned by the entrant and/or which are subject to the rights of third parties, and/or if any persons appear in the photograph, the entrant is responsible for obtaining, prior to submission of the photograph, any and all releases and consents necessary.
  5. Photos that contain sexually explicit, nude, obscene, violent or other objectionable or inappropriate content, as determined by the STS in its sole discretion, are ineligible for all categories of this contest.
  6. Last date for submission of Artwork communicated to the email address in the registration form.
  7. Winners will be announced during the Pattasu 2018 event.

Thithikkudhey competition

  1. You can make any Indian sweet of your choice.
  2. Only one submission per entrant.
  3. Please bring the sweet you have prepared between 1- 1.30 PM for judging.
  4. STS will not be responsible in providing any refrigeration or warming up services.
  5. Contestants will have the option to plug in microwave or personal refrigerator at the venue.
  6. Contestants will have to bring their own cutlery, bowls, cups for sampling.
  7. Only the Items placed in the sample cups/bowls will be judged.
  8. Placard with the name of the sweet should be placed next the dish you bring.
  9. Please DO NOT write your name. We will give you an item tag for reference.
  10. Ingredients should be listed next to the dish to avoid any allergy related issues.
  11. The video clipping of you preparing the sweet should be sent to the below email id before the contestant can check in at the registration desk on the day of the event.
  12. Judges’ decision is final
  13. Winners will be announced during the Pattasu 2018 event

Neeyum Naanuma !! Kanna Neeyum Naanuma !!

–Kuzhandhai Valarpil Oru Marupatta Karuthaivu

This a talk show where parents and kids get a chance to express and exchange their views

Parents and kids will be seated either side. Each parent and kid will be given an opportunity to pitch their opinions. The debate includes but not limited to,

  • How talented both sides are
  • Best and good things about the other side
  • The issues that they are facing with each other
  • Comments on parenting style
  • Comments on child’s behavior
  • Setting expectations to other side
Rules
  1. Participant should be at least 8 years old
  2. Parent and their kid duo are more welcomed.
  3. Kid’s Tamil speaking ability will be appreciated. Kids may use English sporadically to express their views (but not complete. The purpose of the show is to understand the kid’s perspective not the language skill.
  4. Always show courtesy and respect to all other participants
  5. No topics related to religion/politics should ever be used
  6. Cannot offend or abuse any participant on the stage, directly or indirectly

Short film contest

  1. Short films can be in Tamil or combination of Tamil and English.
  2. Length of the short film should be 4 to 15 mins (Including Credits).
  3. All entries that is less than 4 minutes and more than 15 minutes will be disqualified.
  4. No explicit violence content is entertained.
  5. Short films released on or after Aug 1st can be submitted for the contest.
  6. Upload the movie in YouTube and email the link for submission.
  7. By submitting the contests, you agree all general and contest specific rules.

Group Dance – Non-competitive performance

  1. Group performances only. Group should have min of 5.
  2. Performance should not exceed 5 minutes
  3. Medley of Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Sanskrit and English is acceptable. But it should have significant amount of Tamil songs
  4. All dance forms are welcome.
  5. Two groups cannot pick the same song. First group to email us the list of songs will get the song.
  6. Once registered please send in your song selection to confirm your favorite song in following format

Solo/Group Singing – Non-competitive performance

  1. Both Solo/ Group performance is allowed. A group can accommodate min 2 to 8
  2. Performance should not exceed 5 minutes.
  3. Tamil songs only.
  4. Karaoke (background music) will be played if provided ahead by the singer
  5. Any genre of music is welcome,
  6. Two participants cannot pick the same song. First participant to email us the song will get the song.
  7. Once registered please send in your song selection to confirm your favorite song in following format
